CAPriCORN is committed to incorporating the patient and clinician voice in all aspects of its continued development to ensure that evidence from clinical research meets the needs of healthcare decision makers.
As a part of this commitment, CAPriCORN has developed the 30-member Patient and Clinician Advisory Committee (PCAC) comprised of patients, community members, advocates, and healthcare providers. The PCAC meets quarterly to provide feedback and recommendations related to CAPriCORN activities and research. Discussion of projects at an early, formative stage leads to research designs that better reflect the needs of patients and providers.
PCAC members also participate in other CAPriCORN committees including the Coordinating Committee, Steering Committee, Communications Committee, Health Systems Leadership Committee, Chicago Area Institutional Review Board (ChAIRB), and research cohort work groups.
In the future, the PCAC hopes to build the skills and confidence needed to develop and lead its own research projects.
