CAPriCORN Patient Community Advisory Committee Awarded Eugene Washington Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute Engagement Award
CAPriCORN’s Patient Community Advisory Committee (PCAC) was awarded the Eugene Washington Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Engagement Award for Conference Support in support of their conference proposal, “Elevating the Patient Voice in Research.” The grant enabled the PCAC to plan and implement the project, which is designed to increase patient participation in research and to guide future health research priorities.
PCAC members listed on the grant have met with partners to develop and disseminate a community survey and plan three community listening sessions. At these sessions, community members will share their thoughts on health issues important to them and what information is needed to address those issues. Session dates are as follows:

Based upon its intimate knowledge of CAPriCORN, PCAC is uniquely positioned to leverage the conference opportunity to develop and strengthen strategic relationships with patients, community partners, key stakeholders, and governmental leaders (“consumers”). CAPriCORN will support the PCAC and the Health and Medicine Policy Research Group Collaborators as this conference is developed and actualized.
As a part of this effort they developed a survey (included below) to collect the opinions on the social conditions and health issues that are of most interest to patients and community members in Cook County. The information collected from the survey will be used to guide the series of community listening sessions.
